APICOETOMY Surgery Albany NY
Endodontic Microsurgery
Generally, root canal treatment or retreatment is all that is needed to save your tooth. Occasionally, a more complex procedure will be needed. If this occurs, Dr. Aibel may recommend microsurgery. Endodontic microsurgery can be used to locate fractures, hidden canals, and pathology that may not appear on x-rays and 3-D imaging but may manifest itself as pain in the tooth. Damaged roots and the surrounding bone can be treated with this procedure. The most common surgery used to save damaged teeth is an apicoectomy, also known as a root-end resection.
Endodontic Surgery
Apicoectomy
Dr. Aibel and his experienced team perform apicoectomies using a Zeiss surgical microscope and advanced microsurgical techniques. This microsurgical approach allows for a minimally invasive procedure, improved success rate, and optimal healing.
Following the procedure, there may be some discomfort and swelling while the surgical area heals. This is normal for any surgical procedure. To minimize discomfort and swelling, Dr. Aibel and his team will give you specific verbal and written post-operative instructions and prescribe appropriate medications.
