Discomfort after Surgery
After treatment, your tooth and jaw may feel sensitive or tender, especially if there was pain or infection before the procedure. Discomfort can be reduced or relieved with over-the-counter or prescription medications. Follow Dr. Aibel’s post-operative instructions carefully. Please note that mild to moderate discomfort or tenderness when biting is normal and usually subsides within 3-4 days. Residual tenderness may take several weeks to completely resolve. If you experience moderate to severe discomfort which is not reduced by medication please contact our office.
Dr. Aibel has an answering service for his current patients who are experiencing severe pain and/or swelling. This number is for emergencies only. If you need to call, please have a pharmacy number available. Please disable caller-ID block and allow up to two hours for the Doctor to return your call.
For mild to moderate discomfort that you are able to manage with analgesics (pain medications), please call during normal business hours.
